I am sleep deprived.

Lina started sleeping through the night consistently a few weeks ago. I was thrilled!

All of a sudden this week she is waking up every three hours at night. She eats for just a bit and then goes back to sleep.

Every three hours!! I am dying here! She didn't even do this as a newborn.....and she's 3 1/2 months now for crying out loud!

Any ideas??

  1. Emma didn't sleep through the night till about 9 months. It will get better... I don't know that I have any suggestions other than to keep her close so you don't have to get out of bed to get here. I would sleep through most the nursings... I wish I had a good solution but I never figured it out... Sometimes they only need a little cry and they will go back to sleep...

  2. Ugh... maybe it's a growth spurt and it will fix itself in a few more nights. Or maybe you just need to let her cry it out. You already know she's capable of going all night w/o eating...

  3. yah, kinda agree along the same lines with crying it out. If you know she is eating enough- you don't want to make it a habit for her of eating that often. Try to stretch it to 5 hours or something by giving her some other comfort tool. But sleep deprivation is the worst.

  4. Growth spurt. that's my best guess, it'll hopefully be over soon and you can re-sleep train her to sleep through the night again

  5. She may be teething. My youngest started teething at three months and they didnt pop through till 6 months. If she drools alot that most likely is it. Also it could be a change in your diet and its giving her a tummy ache. Whatever it is i hope it gets better soon.

  6. All I know is I give up. I can't keep trying things and stressing myself out with the whole "why can't I get my child to sleep" thing. Ellie usually sleeps 5 hours but then wants to nurse and falls back asleep (and she's almost 6 months!). Why I can't get a good 8-9 hours kills me. All I'm hoping is that she is listening to her body's needs because the 'cry is out' idea doesn't work for me. So what I'm really saying is that I just surrendered to the sleep deprivation and I'm trying not to stress about it. The attitude change is what helped me. Good luck.
